Interface Design
In order to be deemed a success to Abbotsford Airport staff, the homepage needed to directly connect passengers with airline operators. This was important for Airport staff, as passengers commonly requested support for lost items on light or baggage, which are matters handled and resolved directly by airline operators. To address this, airline operator information was intentionally located at the top of the page to promote importance and prominence. This area also includes external links to other popular passenger requests such as flight information, airline contact and links to social media, where all external links directly connect passenger and airlines.
In addition, the homepage includes several other areas within the interface where information can be easily located by users and equally easily updated by Airport staff. These areas include airline operator information, flight arrivals and departures, quick links to popular pages and featured content styled within cards or tiles.
Accessibility
When selecting colours we carefully reviewed colour contrasts to meet accessibility standards, ensuring text over coloured backgrounds met standards. We also established a visual language that clearly identifies clickable elements through accessible use of colour, ensuring interactive elements are easily located when surrounded by text.
Visual language
Prior to the redesign, the client had a limited brand identity consisting solely of the logo. In order to achieve visual tone and provide Abbotsford Airport with an online brand identity, we took inspiration from the existing logo and the silhouette of aircraft wings.
The wing inspired shapes and curvatures can be seen throughout the design and are thoughtfully located within the header and footer, to avoid cluttering, which has a potential to overwhelm critical content with visuals. The wing inspired shapes also create interesting negative space and suggest movement or flight.

Final Interface
Following the launch of the redesigned website, Abbotsford Airport received positive praise from its passengers and staff. This feedback reinforced that the project goals and objectives of providing an enhanced online experience had been successfully achieved.
